Anyone else booked on the Egyptian Family Adventure in October half term? We are having a special holiday for my hubbie's 40th - he has always wanted to go to Egypt. We have 2 kids, Jack (10) and Beth (7).

Following the political unrest in Egypt earlier in 2011 we are regularly being asked ‘Is now a good time to visit Egypt?’, ‘Will I be safe?’, ‘Will all the tourist sites be open?’.
We wanted to answer these questions and provide you with some feedback from clients who’ve travelled with us over the past few weeks to hopefully ease any concerns which you may have when considering a trip to Egypt.
Is now a good time to visit Egypt?
In a word…Yes!…

The 1st April was National Orphan’s day in Egypt where people across Egypt came together to honour the many thousands of orphans throughout the country. Celebrations took place all over Egypt including the Orphanage which we support in Cairo.

Before I started work with Uncover the World, I took my family (3 girls between 5 & 9) on an adventure to Jordan. Here's my account of our Wadi Rum adventure.
The Wadi Rum (also referred to as ‘The Valley of the Moon’) conjures up images of a strange, beautiful and forbidding landscape. I’d seen Lawrence of Arabia and read snippets, so obviously, in my opinion I was somewhat of an expert.…

Wow what an awesome experience, we were met at Cairo airport by our tour leader Abdo, what a fantastic person. he made sure everything was organised for us to the last detail.
First we were checked in to the oasis hotel (very nice) next morning he introduced us to our Egyptologist guide Amro who was so experienced & explained in great detail about every site he took us to see. We saw the pyramids at Giza & the Sphinx, then the pyramids at Sakkara. In the evening we went to see…

Finally leave for Egypt on Saturday. I think i have everything sorted out and i can't wait to get it underway. Cases almost packed, arranged with parents to pop in and feed the guinea pigs daily and now just waiting to finish my last couple of days at work.
I've been on plenty holidays in the past but this is going to be quite different to what i'm used to.
I just hope i haven't underestimated the amount of money i'll need as i'm not bringing much...

Every year an organised/unorganised charity event called the Plymouth to Banjul Rally takes place. The challenge consists of finding a cheap, left-hand drive car and, with minimal modification, driving it across the Sahara Desert from the UK to Banjul in The Gambia. Once there the cars are auctioned off and the money donated to local charities. Sounds simple right? Well actually it was.

The idea had appealed to me for many years but…

Just returned from a trek to Annapurna Base Camp which was amazing. It was a wonderful experience to be in such a remote and serene place surrounded by some of the world's highest mountains. Trekking up towards ABC you invariably had sight of the majestic peak of Machhhapuchhere which was a wonderful experience in itself. Add to this the culture and the people and the opportunity to see Kathmandu and Pohkara the trip was really several rolled into one. My guide and porter were great. Madan my…

This was certainly an experience. My Wife and I are not historians but have an interest in the different cultures around the World and the nearest we had come to this sort of experience was in the Yucatan Peninsular of Mexico, rich in Mayan culture. We knew a little about the Pyramids and the Sphinx plus the Valley of the Kings but the number of Temples and the size of them took our breath away
Our group comprised 2 couples from the UK and 1 couple from California. We were named the Lovely…

Having just returned from a trip to Dahab, I really must thank Ben Whitehead, for his fantastic organisational skills, his intuition at knowing exactly what sort of travellers we are, and for using the best guide in Dahab, Hany who accommodated our needs and requirements with flair, talent and wonderful humour.
Initially the trip started badly, due to no fault of Egypt uncovered I might add, We made the mistake of flying with Thomson from DSA, the sea of football shirts holding back…

We were very impressed with our trip to Egypt and Egypt Uncovered made sure that we had no difficulties during our tour. They also took care of the small things such as provision of water etc, which showed that the tour was well thought through. All coaches were air-conditioned and in very good condition which was a relief as we spent significant amount of time touring visitor attractions in the coach. The other thing that impressed us was the size of our group. We were only 15 of us which made…

Hi Guys
I’ve just got back from Egypt, and I wanted to tell you a little bit about my tour. Although I have travelled to Egypt several times before, this was my first time since I started working for Egypt Uncovered. I joined the
Nile Explorer tour on the 23rd May and what a great time I had!!
I arrived in Cairo a few days early to do a few Hotel inspections and meet the rest of our team, inspecting the Hotels was…

Just a quick report back on a wonderful holiday.
We are a mixed bunch - one Irish and one Scot plus their two kids and another Irish pal, living in Doha and spending Easter in Egypt. Arrived into Cairo and transferred to our hotel the Pyramid Park. Despite the sign in the lobby, if this is a 5* property then I'm the goddess Isis (about whom more later!). Pretty disappointing start to the visit - five of us wedged into a twin room with three pull-out beds and no availability for an extra…
