Since the discovery of his tomb on 4th November 1922, Tutankhamun and his treasures have captivated people from around the world. A travelling exhibition which recently arrived in Manchester is set to bring the world of the Pharaohs to the north of England - Tutankhamun, his tomb and his treasures.

The exhibition breaks new ground in its presentation and perfect replicas give you an idea of what Howard Carter may have glimpsed upon entering the tomb for the first time.

Today the preservation and conservation of ancient monuments is of such concern that many historic artefacts from around the world can't be moved from their existing museums, or displayed at all. When dealing with the priceless, famous treasures of King Tutankhamun, these risks are greatly amplified. Because of the delicate and immensely valuable nature of many historical treasures, removing them from the safe and carefully monitored confines of a museum environment presents huge risks, no matter how carefully this is done.

This exhibition, instead of displaying just a handful or original artefacts, lavishly creates the whole burial chamber of Tutankhamun and has in excess of 1,000 expertly crafted and approved replicas. The aim of this exhibition isn't to replace the originals but to complement them, by giving you an insight into how they were originally presented in the tomb.

This is an unforgettable experience for any visitor and one that leaves a lasting impression.

The release of this exhibition comes days after the start of the 'Journey to the Afterlife' Exhibition in the British Museum in London where ancient Egyptian books of the dead will be displayed in a one time only event.
